Tanja Stupar Trifunović was born in 1977 in Zadar, Croatia, and now lives in Banja Luka, Bosnia, and Herzegovina, working as a librarian at the University of Banja Luka Library. She has published six volumes of poetry, one volume of short stories, three novels and a graphic novella. Her award-winning works have been translated into English, German, French, Polish, Slovenian, Danish, Swedish, Macedonian, Czech, Hungarian, Bulgarian, and Spanish. For her first novel „Satovi u majčinoj sobi“ (Clocks in My Mother’s Room), she won the European Union Prize for Literature (EUPL) in 2016. She has also won a number of prestigious literary prizes in the Balkans both for her poetry and fiction, some of them being:  „Risto Ratković“ award for the best poetry book in the region, „Zlatni suncokret“ award for the best book in the Serbian language for her book „Otkako sam kupila labuda“ (Since I Bought a Swan) and „Vasko Popa“ award for the best poetry book. Her most recent novel „Duž oštrog noža leti ptica” (Along a sharp knife a bird flies) has been shortlisted for the NIN Award and Beogradski pobednik award for the best novel published in Serbian language in 2024.

Melisa Slipac was born in in 1978 Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina. She holds an MA in English, Spanish, Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian language and literature, and a PhD in Slavic Studies from the University of Vienna. Her first book of poetry Ples između zidova (Dancing among the Walls) (2007), was awarded the Petar Kočić literary prize for poets from the former Yugoslavia living in German-speaking countries. For more than 20 years she has organised literary readings and has worked in the arts and culture. She lives in Vienna and works as a language teacher and trainer.

The reading will be held in English.
